UK-CHINA: Soundcraft is to transfer manufacture of its Si and Vi se-
ries digital consoles to China, retaining production of the RM and B
broadcast series at its UK headquarters. Those consoles made in China
will be delivered to the UK in standard configurations, and configured to customers'requirements and re-tested before delivery. The restruc-
turing comes at the cost of 71 jobs. The company already produces more than 80 percent of its output in China to ISO9001 certification, and regards the move as necessary to maintain its market competitiveness.
Sales, service,marketing, product management, R&D, quality and test and all group support functions will remain in the UK, and the advanced Genesis SMT production line set up in 2005 will be used to assist the development of new digital products.
